Afraid Of…

The guesses for my Neurosis Contest were, well, let’s just say, interesting?
My personal favorites included mental retardation and narcissistic personality disorder.
Really, though, people? I know I like to talk about myself a lot, but narcissistic?
I prefer egomaniac, thankyouverymuch.
Unfortunately, no one guessed the disorders spot on, so I’ve decided to randomly draw a name from everyone who participated. And the winner is…
Jamie Quinlan
Social Anxiety Disorder and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. I don’t think you are OCD or have ADD. What is weird is that the shrink diagnosed you by using a rectal thermometer….that I don’t understand.
Jamie’s other guess was going to be mental retardation, which, really, is only a fair guess.
And since no one guessed spot on, I suppose you are all dying to know the real diagnosis is (or at least in my narcissistic world, I imagine you are all on the edge of your seats every single day to hear more about my boring as all hell fascinating life.)
My OFFICIAL crazy diagnosis is:
Anxiety (shocker!) and…
…wait for it…
…wait for it…
Agoraphobia!
Seriously! ME! The girl who can not WAIT to get out of her prison house to go shopping and/or, well, ANYTHING that gets me out of the house, has AGORAPHOBIA, which Google defines as:
Agoraphobia is a fear of being in places where help might not be available. It usually involves fear of crowds, bridges, or of being outside alone…Agoraphobia often accompanies another anxiety disorder, such as panic disorder or a specific phobia. If it occurs with panic disorder, it usually starts in a person’s 20s, and women are affected more often than men.
Oh fuck. Huh. Look at that. I AM Agoraphobic!!
The good news is that the new medication seems to really be helping and I get to start my Oh my God, I get to talk about myself for like a hour or more! therapy in a few weeks and I’m totally excited!
So what kind of crazy do you think YOU are?
Song title: Afraid Of by Old Man Gloom

I’ve got acrophobia, generalized anxiety disorder with a small splash of social phobia, and a self-screening for ADHD came up just shy of the line where a clinical diagnosis is strongly encouraged.
Well, I know what kind of crazy I am
LOL. I’ve been diagnosed with bipolar, cyclothymia and then regular old depression. Oh, and throw in a little bit of OCD. Fun stuff
Wow! I really have a crazy audience, huh? Takes one to know one, I suppose! ha!
Sorry about the narcissistic thing…I didn’t really think you were, but I was hoping it would be good for a few laughs.
I totally have anxiety and depression, I’ll be on meds forever, but I don’t care! It helps a lot. I’m glad you have a diganosis, and interesting about the agoraphobia maybe not being what we all assume it to be! I didn’t know the definition before, thought it was just not liking to go outside or something.
